Is she just asleep or is there some darker plot involved? It's hard to tell. Of significance, Foster's other songs feature women that were either dead or romantically "out of reach" - Jeanie (of light brown hair fame) comes to mind. Whatever the original story line, Foster's melodic genius shines through in this piece, and the well-known title aptly describes the dream-like quality of both his melody and the lyrics. 2016 Arrangement New Release.
