Description
SATB choir with divisi and soprano voice soli, a cappella - Medium Difficult
SKU: PL.0017
Composed by Roland E Martin. Cathedral. Choral, General. Octavo. Paraclete Press #0017. Published by Paraclete Press (PL.0017).This extended work sets the Martin text (Hail Mary, O Source of Life) from Hildegard von Bingen (12th cent.). Its use of much divisi creates a rich sound that reflects the ecstatic quality of the text. The shape of the long phrases is reminiscent of the motets of Bruckner. There is a lovely soprano duet at the words "O dulcissima" and the Gloria Patri is set in a fugal style, building to a dynamic climax and followed by a long decrescendo on the final "Amen." This moving work is appropriate for Marian feasts and for concerts.
