Italian-born cellist and conductor Antonio Janigro is best known for his performances with the chamber orchestra that he founded in 1954, I Solisti di Zagreb. The ensemble, since inception, has helped bring contemporary fame to Baroque composers such as Bach and Vivaldi. This recording features staples in string literature from powerhouse composers such as Corelli, Rossini, Mozart, and Shostakovich, to name a few. All performances on this album are taken from radio productions from between 1957 and 1966 for the Berlin RIAS (known today as Deutschlandradio Kultur).
