A peça escrita em três movimentos têm uma mistura de ritmo e lirismo bem distribuídos entre os movimentos. O primeiro deles; Violão companheiro, utiliza um motivo ritual em semicolcheias e colcheias, combinando com rasgueados na maior parte do movimento, além do nosso ritmo mais conhecido, o samba. Já na parte B, encontramos uma melodia um pouco mais lírica, que vai se desenvolvendo até a retomada do tema rítmico inicial. O segundo movimento; Interlúdio, tem um caráter mais romântico, bem cantábile, melodia simples e sucinta que transmite um sentimento de saudade. O terceiro movimento é um Estudo em Mi menor,
