This arrangement is designed to accommodate several different performance options. It can
be used to accompany congregational singing, as a choral feature, or as an orchestra‐only number.

The opening instrumental solo is set in the key of E‐flat to allow for the use of bagpipes if so
desired. Cues are provided for violin, viola, or trumpet to play this solo line if needed (the original
performance featured a viola solo).
