Brant Adams is perhaps the premier orchestrator for church music publishers today. This new volume for alto saxophone continues the Brant Adams Instrumental Series, and includes a Performance/Accompaniment CD. These arrangements reflect his solid understanding of the individual instruments, creative arranging abilities, and a keen awareness of the local church setting shaped by his many years as a practicing church musician.

  • July 31, 2021 Nice arrangements...but beware

These are nice arrangements, but the publication has some flaws. First, it was clearly written with the piano part in mind first and then transposed for saxophone. So, be sure you are comfortable playing in 4 and 5 sharps. Because those will be your most frequently used keys. Also - solos...

with piano accompaniment should be published as two separate booklets. Year back this was the norm. Now, publishers are being lazy and putting in all in one book - which doesn't work. You end up having to spend more to copy pages so that the two different players can both read their parts. Thankfully, they give you permission to make those copies. (Which of course, means they realize they are giving it to you in an unworkable format.)But, I don't want to pay more money for paper and printer and ink to end up with a bunch of scattered single pages that can get lost, out of order, etc.I bought a book. I want it in a book!

  • March 23, 2020 Great arrangements

Nice arrangements. Piano accompaniment is interesting and works well with the sax. Sax uses the full range. My adult daughter and I enjoy them and will play them in church.

  • November 28, 2018 Exactly What I've Been Looking For

By far, the best solo worship arrangements with piano accompaniment I've found anywhere. Classical, seasoned with jazz in a couple places. The difficulty level is in the sweet spot, challenging but still fun. Listening to the recordings intimidated me, but practicing along made me realize just how wonderful this...

book is. In fact, practicing these arrangements has helped me rediscover the joy of practicing altogether, as I've been in a dry spell the past few years. Praise the Lord for Brant Adams, and for all the musicians seeking to use their talent for worship. I highly recommend you give this collection a try.

I really like these arrangements. I bought both books when our church pianist couldn't play for several months, with the intent that I would play them with the piano accompaniment that came with them. I played in college. Because I had to perform in 2 weeks, I had to...

cut out some of the runs, and change some of the parts because these are VERY challenging pieces. I do think they'd be much easier if you had your own pianist to play because he/she could play a little slower for you. But if you can make it through the arrangements, you will get lots of complements because these are so well put together.

  • June 20, 2012 Alto Saxophone Solos for Worship

I think that the author did a great job in finding a balance between challenge & practicality. Unlike many works that claim to be " Solo" but are little more than a chance to be buried beneath the real action, these compositions place you front & center, supported by great accompaniments, to " show...

what you got " My strong word of caution though, would be to carefully consider these 2 questions :1.What is the style that appeals to you ? &2. Who is your target audience ? Often many dollars are wasted on material that, while good, fail to pass this test. In my opinion, these compositions will work well in more conservative formats but will probably have more limited appeal among the Hosannah, Maranatha, or contemporary Jazz,Rock,R&B, or fussion-type crowds. If your taste or target lands you in this conservative group, or ( as in my case )you wish to have an assortment of material that enables you to reach any crowd, this is certainly worth a look.
