This organ piece has taken on a new life as a period piece for string ensemble, and string quartet (with optional bass). It works well as a concert piece, a work for a solemn occasion, and can appear on any concert program for a string orchestra that wants to show its strength as an interpreter of early Classical music. Professional string ensembles, as well as youth training string orchestras can use this beautiful Adagio as a training for listening skills as the four-part harmonies move through the string sections, each section sensitive to, and responding musically to their role in realizing the potential of great music making of a piece worth a serious place in string ensemble literature.
