A Modern Invention tries to capture the vocal essence of the keyboard invention by extracting lines from the keyboard texture. To that end, modern scat syllables are used and it should be performed in the style of the Swingle Singers. The syllables should be performed in a crisp, detached style consistent with Baroque practice.
