French composer and singer Charles Aznavour, born in an Armenian family in Paris in 1924, is also known as travelling Armenian ambassador to the UNESCO. He wrote and sang many popular songs that have been recorded not only be himself, but also by quite some other international star singers. Some of his French songs also had an immense success in their English version; this was the case with Yesterday when I was young, originally called "Hier encore.".
