This is an original 1980's theme written for a Texas Instrument's TI-99-4A - one of the first home computers ever built, and one of which I was a proud owner. I soon became interested in programming my own games on it and wrote an emulation of 'Bomber Blitz' which was accepted for publication in the then popular computer magazine 'Computer and Video Games.' The theme tune was played at the end but only if you managed to land your 'Bomber' successfully after clearing a landing strip by bombing flat the skyscrapers on it. Unfortunately, however, I was only 13 years old and didn't possess a magnetic cassette recorder to save the code on, and no offers of help were forthcoming.

A couple of years later I wrote a similar game for the superior 'ZX-Spectrum' computer where you had to clear a mountain range in a jet full of passengers and land it on the runway - which was quite tricky. Again, the theme tune played if you were successful in landing the jet.

30 odd years have passed since then and I have never forgotten the theme - which is in ABCA form, that is, except the B part which re-surfaced in my head last week. Hence, I wrote it down and here it is.

It was written for the earliest ADSR synthesized computer sounds, which were pretty basic, and I wrote three parts for it - the theme or melody, a bass line, and a kind of thumping additional bass line. This new version includes a suggested drum part also.

The theme is gritty, thumping fast and I don't know anyone who didn't smile from ear to ear when they heard it. Not bad for a poor little kid eh?
