Der Komponist lebte in der ersten Blutezeit der Flotenmusik, als das Instrument von vielen Liebhabern bevorzugt wurde, die immer wieder neue Werke suchten. In diesem Werk fur die Anfanger des Flotenspiels bringt der Komponist nur Beispiele in den zu seiner Zeit auf der Flote spielbaren Tonarten. Diese folgen abwechselnd beiden Richtungen des Quintenzirkels, sodass von C-Dur aus die Vorzeichen schrittweise anwachsen.
