My violin instructor highly recommended this book. It is great for left hand exercises. I have already noticed a difference.

  • July 15, 2008 Classic manual for dexterity training

Introduces and reinforces concept of rapid fingering (e.g. 32-note slurs) across a range of positions. Excellent for every-day practice for early intermediate students (more than 1 year of training)

  • July 07, 2006 Essential Foundation Work

Similar to early Sevcik, but with more melodic interest and longer phrases, Schradieck starts in a relatively easy mode (accessible to an early-to-mid- intermediate level) with 3 pages of one-line patterns in first position. By the third page, he begins using extensions and augmented-second intervals in...

a minor key, so this is NOT recommended for rank beginners or very young children with tiny hands. The book gives concentrated drill work in all positions through seventh, while using a new key every few pages, and includes pages of string crossing in each position, first on 2 strings, then 3 and 4. *Schradieck is used by famous instructors of both violin and viola such as Kurt Sassmannshaus and Robert Vernon.
