Derek Hasted writes "This is a real crowd-pleaser! It suits 4 guitars (or 3+bass) or a large ensemble.
This arrangement is in 4 intermediate to advanced-intermediate parts - the complexity of the parts varies slightly.
Guitar 1 (the melody) is ostensibly up the neck all the time, but fits well under the fingers.
Guitar 2 combines rhythm and percussion with a busy but straightforward chordal part that needs to be both staccato and accented - the notes are grouped to make the accenting easy to see.
Guitar 3 (which features the original solo sax break) is the most complicated; a slightly less frantic sax break is also included in the score.
Guitar 4 (bass part) is the least complex, though it contains much of the characteristic "sound" of this piece. This part is set for both treble clef and bass clef instruments to suit a conventional guitar, an acoustic bass guitar, a double bass or electric bass.
The original fades to nothing - you can try that if you wish, but there’s a well-defined ending if you want a more dramatic and final close to the piece...
Dynamics and fingering are yours to choose - just make sure you make the performance "yours"...
