Derek Hasted writes "This traditional Folk Song makes a positively rumbustious concert item!
My arrangement suits an intermediate ensemble - either a trio or a large ensemble. The tune is passed between the three parts, though it is Guitar One that has the bulk of the high notes. The accompaniment is in two voices but almost all of the “backing track” is playable in first position, where it’s easy to get a clean sound, a punchy delivery and clean articulation.
But each player in turn has a chance to play the tune, including a minor-key version where a slackening in tempo will make a real contrast.
My arrangement has no dynamics or fingerings added - the latter are your choice - a warm sound up the neck or a bright sound down low... and the dynamics - well, make this performance yours - you can change tempo, you can pause here and there, you can crescendo to make the piece shout out, or pause for a moment of reflection.
Just make this performance yours - if you are bold, your audience will love your interpretation.
