Three movement suite that can be performed independantly. Alto saxophone feature. Sold as entire suite only. Mov I (Ballade): Entire suite is derived from the Ballade theme. Involving constantly shifting colors, this mvt demonstrates the ballad artistry of the solosit. Mov II (Latino): Short written solo cadenza. Changes to a latin rhythm vamp for improv. Mambo section next features high brass over roaring ensemble. Soloist again over montuno, to a screaming climax. Mov III (Scherzo): Final movement. Up-tempo swinging line played by Alto & Guitar, over a loose ensemble. After ample room to stretch out, a return is made to the Ballade. doubles. Diff.
