Composed by Jacques Offenbach. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Opera,Romantic Period,Standards. 9 pages. RayThompsonMusic #5205107. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553870).

Orpheus in the Underworld ] and Orpheus in Hell] are English names for Orphée aux enfers, a comic opera with music by Jacques Offenbach and words by Hector Crémieux and Ludovic Halévy.

In the last decade of the 19th century the Paris cabarets the Moulin Rouge and Folies Bergère adopted the music of the "Galop infernal" from the culminating scene of the opera to accompany the can-can, and ever since then the tune has been popularly associated with the dance.

My arrangement is the final part of the Overture which was arranged by the Austrian musician Carl Binder (1816–1860) for the first production of the opera in Vienna, in 1860.

Arranged wind quintet.
Includes Clarinet in A and Bb.
