Crystal Mountains is a short, detailed and technically challenging standalone piece for solo clarinet.

It calls for measured breath and tone control through extreme dynamic ranges, helping to feel grounded and confident on the stage.

Inspired by gorgeous images of mountain tops from around the world, I invite the player to imagine performing this from the highest peak, looking across to the edge of a crimson sky. Though written precisely, this music requires generous space for the slow melodies to be processed and perhaps heard as an echo. The player should enjoy taking liberties with this. .
