From the famous "Liederjahr" in 1840, in which Schumann composed over one hundred songs, came the "Myrthen" op. 25, which he dedicated to "his dear bride" Clara Wieck-Schumann. In addition to well-known songs such as "dedication", "lotus flower" or "Nussbaum" on texts of German poets are also trips to more foreign realms such as the Scottish Highlands of Robert Burns or "Venetian songs" by Thomas Moore. In addition to the first edition from 1840, Schumann specialist Kazuko Ozawa also examined all manuscript sources and discovered interesting early versions of individual songs among the dedication autographs, which are printed in the appendix. A detailed introduction to the creation of the "myrtles" completes this Urtext edition, which is the series of Schumann song cycles in G.
