The aim of this Tutor by the famous balalaika-player Michail Ignatieff (1910-1991) is to teach, by an easily understood method, the artistic playing of the balalaika. A knowledge of notation and of the basic notions of theory is indispensable. To stimulate the students interest, monotonous and dreary exercises were replaced by a series of songs and pieces; the necessary exercises are in a shortened form.
