Here is another marvelous collaboration of Pat Metheny/Lyle Mays music as arranged for big band by Bob Curnow. The original recording by the Pat Metheny Group is on the CD "Speaking of Now." The piece starts quietly in the rhythm section in a medium/slow latin groove. The rest of the band slowly joins in as the piece develops. The main soloists are alto saxophone and trumpet. There is a lovely, quiet section in the alto solo. Then the music slowly builds to an amazing climax, followed by a beautiful, soft ending. Brass ranges are reasonable. This one is a favorite with audiences and it makes a great addition to any jazz program. 5-4-4-4.
