Written by Maceo Pinkard (music) and Ken Casey (lyrics) in 1925, the tune was popularized by bandleader Ben Bernie. The song has been recorded many times by a wide variety of artists in a myriad of styles and treatments. A 1949 recording by Brother Bones and His Shadows was adopted as the theme song of the Harlem Globetrotters. This treatment by Steve Burch features syncopation, chromaticism, both pizzicato bass and string bass parts, and solo opportunities for violin, viola, and pizzicato bass.
