Composed by Albert Oliver Davis. Modern Masters. Score and set of parts. LudwigMasters Digital #10200113. Published by LudwigMasters Digital (XM.10200113).Albert O. Davis felt that this was the best work he ever composed. Written in four movements and sold separately, Anasazi is a representation of the early Native Americans of the Southwest. In this, its original form for orchestra, the work is a token of respect for a land and its people. The High Mesa introduces the sounds of the early villages. From the depiction of early mornings in the desert to the hunt for sustenance for the tribe, the true experiences are portrayed by musical suggestion. Hunts for animals, survival, and salvation dominate the movement.
