Composed by Robert Edward Smith. Contemporary. Score and parts. 116 pages. ROBERT EDWARD SMITH MUSIC #4805417. Published by ROBERT EDWARD SMITH MUSIC (A0.998663).

Concerto for Horn and Strings was commissioned by the Chamber Orchestra of Boston for horn player Kevin Owen.  It is a three-movement work of approximately 17 minutes duration for horn in F, and is of some difficulty, mainly in that it ends with a high C.  The first movement mostly displays the majestic potential of the instrument, the second is lyrical, and the third is playful.  The style of writing is tonal and melodic. The score comes with permission of the composer to print the number of string parts necessary for the size of the performing ensemble.
