Published by Cherry Classics Music (S0.631847).Elgar wrote two lovely contrasting works,opus 15, for Violin around the 1890’s, theChanson de Nuit and Chanson de Matin.They were titled in French as his publishersuggested the British public would findthem more appealing to purchase. TheChanson de Nuit and Chanson de Matinbecame his best selling works to thatpoint and added much needed funds forthe family finances.
The Romance, opus 62 was originallywritten for the Bassoon as a lyrical workwith orchestra, as Elgar tried to get awayfrom the usually comical writing for theinstrument.
Mr. Sauer has combined the threedelightful works into a three movementsuite for Euphonium of about 12 minutesin length for advanced performers.
