Es una composición de estructura contrapuntística. Esta breve obra orquestal comienza subrayando la tonalidad de Do mayor con dos notas pedales mantenidas por el contrabajo y el fagot y que da paso a una exposición de un sencillo material melódico intercambiado por los instrumentos de viento madera de la orquesta y que se lo dejan a las cuerdas que lo toman en contrapunto y se irán creado otros motivos que irán apareciendo por toda la obra con el propósito de darle unidad a todo el conjunto.
El desarrollo transcurre creando una atmósfera de incertidumbre tonal, provocada por el uso desmesurado de notas de paso, que nunca parecen resolverse. Así llegaremos a un punto de tensión máxima desde donde se inicia un proceso de resolución de vuelta a la tonalidad inicial.
