Scotland is famed for its rich landscapes and proud heritage. It is also the country that is known for 'housing' the Loch Ness Monster. In celebration of their heritage the Scots annually hold their Highland Games treating audiences to the traditional 'sports' competed by their clan descendents. The Dutch composer Henk Hogestein used the Scottish Highland Games as a source of inspiration for this rugged three-movement work. Dem Komponisten Henk Hogestein diente das schottische Hochland, die sogenannten Highlands, als Quelle der Inspiration fur dieses dreisatzige Werk fur funfstimmig variable Besetzung. Jeder Satz beschreibt sehr anschaulich verschiedene traditionelle schottische Veranstaltungen, wie ein Dudelsackwettbewerb, Tauziehen und einen Schwerttanz. Henk Hogestein s'est inspire des Hautes-Terres pour realiser Highland Games (Jeux des Highlands), une promenade musicale a travers trois des nombreux evenements culturels et sportifs annuels : un Concours de Pipe Band (ensemble de cornemuses) a Inverness ; le tournoi international de tir a la corde d'Aberfeldy au cœur des legendaires monts Grampian, et le tournoi de chevaliers a Balmoral qui se conclut par une trepidante danse du sabre ecossaise.
