This is an excellent piece for student cello recitals, music camp chamber ensembles, or just for a group of friends to play!

The first cello part is entirely in bass clef but requires the ability to shift up to fourth position. The second cello is sometimes in harmony with the first part and sometimes rhythmically independent. The third part is playable in first position.

Morley was a composer of madrigals and other song forms popular at the time. This Air, written in 1597, is from his book "A Plaine and Easie Introduction to Practicall Musicke". It serves as a great introduction to music of the Renaissance.
