Composed as a memorial piece for a beloved teacher and friend, tender melodies and lush harmonies combine in this moving and lyrical work for mature ensembles. Stella Maris is a Latin term for Polaris, the North Star, with its symbolic role as"the star that protects and guides". It's this reference that serves as the inspiration and premise of this emotional and rewarding work.

Lieflijke melodieen en weelderige harmonieen ontvouwen zich samen in dit ontroerende, lyrische stuk van Samuel R. Hazo. Hoewel het eigenlijk geschreven is als herinnering aan een gestorven leermeester en vriend, duidt de titel Stella Maris ookop een andere betekenis: Stella Maris is de Latijnse naam voor de Poolster, de ster die de mens leidt en beschermt. Een inspirerend en gevoelvol werk!
