Rupert Horst has always liked drawing, as well as playing his trombone. In 2003 these two passions joined together for the first time. He is a teacher and avid performer, playing for fun in brass and jazz bands, and professionally in many other ensembles and orchestras. "During countless rehearsals and performances, as well as in long conversations with brass players, you tend to notice the individual idiosyncracies of these fellows" he says. In no ways is this meant as a criticism, quite the contrary. Taking these idiosyncracies, along with some self-mockery, he has put pen to paper to produce this entertaining hardback book of colourful cartoons and caricatures.

Mit den Buchern Brassival und Woodstocks hat Rupert Horbst bewiesen, dass er die kleinen und grossen Unzulanglichkeiten seiner Blaserkollegen gut erkennen und zu Papier bringen kann. Rupert Horbst a toujours aime dessiner et jouer du trombone. Mais ce n'est qu'en 2003, qu'il reussit a conjuguer ses deux passions pour la premiere fois. En cotoyant regulierement les musiciens jouant d'un cuivre, en repetition ou en concert, Rupert Horbst a releve un certain nombre de particularites qui les caracterisent. Traitees avec humour et une pointe d'ironie personnelle, ces caracteristiques on fait l'objet d'une serie de succulents dessins humoristiques et caricaturaux exposes pour la premiere fois au Brucknerhaus a Linz dans le cadre du Brass Festival 2003. Encourage par le succes de l'exposition, la realisation d'un livre s'imposait comme une evidence. Et voila leresultat ! Un pur plaisir.
