We find ourselves initially at the court of King Nobel, where all the animals have arrived for a court hearing. Reynard the Fox has plenty to answer for but he seems determined to avoid his punishment... Kevin Houben chose this fable as the theme forhis programmatic work, in which the musical setting of the fox forms the main theme. But King Nobel, Braun the bear, Murner the cat and Grimbart the badger also take a musical turn. About Reynard the Fox promises excitement and adventure rightto the last note!

Reynaert de vos is de hoofdpersonage uit de fabel Van den vos Reynaerde. Hij is sluw, listig en vol snode plannen. Kevin Houben nam de fabel Van den vos Reynaerde als thema voor dit nieuwe programmatische werk. De verklankingvan de sluwe en listige vos vormt het hoofdmotief. Maar ook koning Nobel, Bruin de beer, Tibeert de kater en Grimbeert de das, de belagers van Reynaert, passeren op muzikale wijze de revue. Verschlagen, listig und voller boser Absichten...! Das ist Reineke Fuchs, die Hauptperson der Fabel Van den vos Reynarde (Von Reineke Fuchs). Alles beginnt am Hofe von Konig Nobel, wo alle Tiere sich eingefunden haben. Ausser Reineke Fuchs, der vielauf dem Kerbholz hat und den Konig Nobel daher vor das Hofgericht zitiert. Was folgt, ist ein Bericht uber Reinekes schlaue Listen, um dem zu entgehen... Kevin Houben wahlte diese Fabel als Thema fur sein programmatisches Werk, in welchem dieVertonung des Fuchses das Hauptmotiv bildet. La volpe, ma anche tutti gli animali presenti a corte nell'opera originale, prendono vita ognuno con la propria melodia. Una composizione ricca checoinvolgera musicisti e pubblico.
