Met deze reeks, waarvan dit de eerste bundel is, hoopt de schrijver daar iets in de kunnen betekenen voor de organist die de samenzang begeleidt in de eredienst. De bundel bestaat uit rustige voorspelen voor de liederen 437 (Vernieuw Gij mij, o eeuwig Licht), 456 (Zegen ons Algoede) en 487 (De Heer heeft mij gezien en onverwacht) uit het Liedboek voor de Kerken, en een uitbundig feestvoorspel bij nummer 413 uit de Evangelische Liedbundel (Lichtstad met uw paar'len poorten).
