Verse 1 and 3 are the same with the FLUTE (part 1) carrying the melody. Verse 2 is slower and quieter with the two instruments alternating leading with the melody. The piano provides a flowing, delicate accompaniment throughout.
After a faith-building experience when Georg Neumark claimed the promise found in Psalm 55:22, he wrote the lyrics to this song: "If you but trust in God to guide you and place your confidence in him, you'll find him always there beside you to give you hope and strength within. . ."
Though notated with FLUTE on part 1 and VIOLIN on part 2, the ranges are also accessible for other combinations of C instruments (2 violins, 2 flutes, etc.). The range for each part is as follows: Part 1 (FLUTE) ~ F#4 to B5; Part 2 (VIOLIN) ~ F#4 to G5. For the violin on either part, all notes are playable in the first position making this piece an excellent choice for early intermediate string players.
