Here we take the hymn gently through variations (decorations), but keeping the harmony mainly in accordance with the first verse.
We give each instrument the main melody in turn (1st flute, bass flute, alto flute, 2nd flute).
In verse three the mode changes to minor and for verse four the mode returns to major while the 1st flute provides a glorious descant.
