This project answers Tommaso Rossi's proposal to follow up a mythological musical thread dedicated to the contralto recorder, starting from a composition "Tre Micro-meliche di Apollo and Marsia" I had written for him and violinist Daniele Colombo on the occasion of the 2008 Dissonanzen+Suona Francese Festival. The idea was to explore the timbric and technical possibilities of this instrument outside the more frequented baroque environment, by using up to date composition practices, some of which derived from electronic music. Over time, this idea transofmred itself into a larger, double track project in which the old and the new instruments, i.e. the recorder and the flute, are continuously invited to metamorphosize into one another.
