This new release from DOREMI features two of the twentieth centuries finest classical artists- pianist Sviatoslav Richter and violinist Oleg Kagan. This recording is of a live broadcast of a recital which was held to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Karol Szymanowski's birth in 1982. Szymanowski's Piano Sonatas Nos. 2 and 3 are featured, as well as his Mythes- Trois poems for Violin and Piano, Op. 30. Sviatoslav Richter was one of the most respected pianists of the twentieth century, and is now a collector's icon. Similarly, Oleg Kagan led a much too short career, dying at age 43 in 1990, but is still considered to be one of the greatest brilliant violinists hailing from Russia. This concert is receiving here its first release.
