Morceau breve sur le nom 'Roland' was composed in 2016. The work consists of a number of phrases spelling out the name of the piece's dedicatee. As the piece progresses, these phrases become progressively louder and quicker, leading to an ethereal conclusion. The short, single-movement work makes an excellent addition to the repertoire for clarinet/bass clarinet duo. The imitative nature of the work results in relatively equal challenges for both players, and the full range of the bass clarinet is used to great dramatic effect.
