The first, Azure, takes inspiration from calm waters and open skies - it is in 5/8 and gently flows upon a syncopated pedal point. The second is Lilac, dream like accompaniment figures are contrasted with a more energetic melodic line. Chartreuse us the the third, quirky in nature and more lively and energetic. The quartet finishes with Indigo, brooding and dramatic in 11/8, this is the climax of the quartet. Total performance time is 12-15 minutes.
