John Ireland's works are performed on this release, which is part of The Hickox Legacy album collection, featuring the City of London Sinfonia. The cornerstone of this release is John Ireland's "A Downland Suite" arranged for string orchestra. Ireland wrote the work in 1932 for Great Britain's National Brass Band Championship. The inspiration for the work was Ireland's love for the Sussex Downs. Also included on this release is the world premiere recording of Ireland's 1903 work, "Orchestral Poem.".
