I wrote this piece in response to my youngest daughter's request. She wanted it for the recessional at her wedding in December of 2016. Our two sons sang it, and the wedding guests received it extremely well. Many, many compliments.
If you would like to do it as a recessional, as we did, drop the voices after the key change at measure 72. The original had no voice parts after 72. The long piano introduction came immediately after the presentation of the bride and groom, and gave the wedding party time to move out of the sanctuary. Then, before, the guest were dismissed by the ushers, the singers stepped to the platform, sang through measure 71 and stepped off the platform again. I designed the piano conclusion from measure 72 to the end of the peace to provide a smooth transition into dismissing the guest row by row. After the pianist finished the piece, she played other selected music to complete the dismissal of the guests. It all worked beautifully, just as I had planned while I was composing it.
Our pastor, who happens to be the husband of our oldest daughter, was, of course, at the wedding, and now wants me and another gentleman in our church to sing it for a special conference on worship that we are hosting in September. I added the voice parts in the last section for that purpose. I hope to catch a recording of that performance so I can add it here as an MP3 Audio Clip to help you to evaluate this composition.
