A Slovakian folk song is given a delightful setting by arranger/educator Virginia Croft. Virginia pulls from her many years of experience of working with younger students to present a fresh and exciting new piece that is instantly catchy. The long accelerando at the end of the piece will bring it to a rousing finish.
This old Slovakian Folk Song contains two diverse melodies that can be performed simultaneously. In this arrangement, each is initially introduced separately, the first by the first violins at the outset and the second by the celli and bass beginning at m. 17. The two are then introduced together beginning at m. 25, after which they are passed around the instrumental voices while being embellished in numerous ways as the excitement of the dance music builds, climaxing in a fast and furious final statement!
