These two short treble motets are for unison choir, with occasional measures for SA. The texts set are: 1. Ave maris stella (Hail, Star of the Sea) and 2. Iesu dulcis memoria (The Sweet Thought of Jesus). Each has two verses with a closing Amen. The writing is clear and the organ accompaniment supports the vocal lines well. These simple yet versatile pieces are perfect for any treble choir! The texts are translated: "Hail, O Star of the sea, God's own Mother blest, ever sinless Virgin, gate of heav'nly rest. Taking that sweet Ave, which from Gabriel came, peace confirm within us, changing Eve's name. // The sweet memory of Jesus Giving true joy to the heart, But more than honey and all things [does so] His sweet presence. Nothing more delightful is sung, Nothing more pleasing heard, Nothing sweeter though, Than Jesus, the Son of God.".
