Christopher Theofanidis's original composition for soloists, chorus, and orchestra 'Creation/Creator' is an ambitious undertaking. Interweaving texts and ideas from philosophy, science, religion, poetry, and literature, his Creation/Creator gives, as Theofanidis describes, a "profoundly deeper understanding of the relationship between these two subjects and to remove a limiting sense of a passive relationship between 'God' and humanity." The world premiere performances of Creation/Creator on April 23 and 25, 2015 at Atlanta Symphony Hall were a continuation of the long and treasured collaboration between the ASO, its Music Director Robert Spano, and the American composer and educator, Christopher Theofanidis (b. 1967), a relationship dating at least as far back as the turn of the 21st c. when Maestro Spano led the Houston Symphony in the 2000 world premiere of Mr. Theofanidis's Rainbow Body, later recording the work for Telarc Records.
