By Alessandro Rolla, Csallo, Salamon, Szucs, Vardai, and Varga. By Georg Druschetzky. Classical. 1 listening CD. Published by Hungaroton (NX.HCD32694).

Georg Druschetzky (1745-1819) was a musician of Bohemian origin, Haydn's younger, Mozart's older contemporary, outliving both. His oeuvre comprises several genres, but music for wind bands seems to have been constant in his output. The present recording contains 24 items of a set of more than 30 pieces that can be linked to three cycles of Divertimenti (F major, B flat major, and F major). Believed to have originated in the 1790s, this is Gebrauchsmusik through and through, and which may have served as nice background music at the soirees and dinners of the aristocrat's families.
