SKU: A0.889210

Composed by Chris Hutchings. Contemporary,Folk,World. Octavo. 9 pages. Chris Hutchings #26565. Published by Chris Hutchings (A0.889210).

An original composition based on Scots folksongs for SATB choir (no divisi). Includes:
an original setting of "The Flowers o' the Forest";
the traditional song "Over The Sea To Skye" (public domain);
the traditional song "Charlie Is My Darling" (public domain);
and the traditional song "O'er the Water to Charlie" (public domain).
The text includes four different Scots songs - "Flowers O' The Forest" (my original setting) forms the core of the piece, but there are also guest appearances from three other Scots songs, still set to their traditional tunes. It's intended to raise questions about the supposed "hero" Bonnie Prince Charlie - he inspired loyalty and fanatical devotion ("O'er The Water To Charlie" and "Charlie Is My Darling"), but his incompetent generalship caused the deaths of thousands ("Flowers O' The Forest"), and he fled Scotland in disgrace ("Over The Sea To Skye"). Some hero.
