Simple humorous song based on my German translation of a satirical poem by William Makepeace Thackeray (who is summarising the plot of Goethe's youthful tragedy with great irony "Die Leiden des jungen Werthers" (The sorrows of young Werther)) The song is written out just for voice and guitar chord names and versions are provided for voices of various types, in the keys of: C, D, G and B-flat (C, D, G und B) The guitar chord names are provided both in German fashion (B, H, C usw.) and in English fashion (B-flat, B, C etc) The audio sample (in the key of C) is performed by the composer I have also set the original English poem and translated the poem into French for those who would like to use those languages instead, under the titles: The sorrows of Werther (English original version) and Les douleurs du jeune Werther (French translation of the English poem).
