Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (born 27th January 1756 in Salzburg, died 5th December 1791 in Vienna) was praised as a musical prodigy by his father: he and his family undertook a concert tour through Western Europe from 1762 to make his talent known. In 1769, he got a job as lead violinist at court in Salzburg, which he took up again after another long concert tour in 1779. After an argument with the Archbishop of Salzburg, he moved to Vienna and worked as a freelance composer since 1781. His compositional style was shaped by Southern German and Italian elements of the second half of the 18th century and he found diverse inspiration from different musical genres.

This book/DVD set includes a DVD with a recording of a lesson in the White Hall in the Sheremetev Palace in St. Petersburg, and a piano and violin arrangement prepared by Zakhar Bron based on the appropriate technical level for the violin.
