Composed by Gerald Near. Non Hymn-Based, Recital Music. MorningStar Music Publishers #10-975. Published by MorningStar Music Publishers (MN.10-975).

Commissioned by Church of the Holy Faith, Santa Fe for the rededication of the expanded Helen Hyde memorial organ. Although a Chaconne, the first movement is roughly in sonata form, with development, recapitulation and change of key. The second movement (an homage to Near's first composition teacher, Leo Sowerby) is rhapsodic and free; it might well serve as a service prelude. The Sonata ends with a large-scale Fugue. All three movements are thematically linked.
