Scherzo for Tuba (Eb Bass) and Brass Band
The bass instruments are sometimes overlooked when it comes to solo repertoire so ‘Tembo’ is a fun piece designed to feature the Eb bass tuba.
Tembo is an African word for elephant and this piece was inspired by the famous bass solo ‘The Elephant’ from Saint-Saëns’ ‘Carnival of the Animals’
This arrangement allows the bass to shine over the whole range of the instrument in a playful way as indicated by the term Scherzo.
