Brass Quintet - Scherzo for Tuba ‘Tembo’
The bass instruments are sometimes overlooked when it comes to solo repertoire so ‘Tembo’ is a fun piece designed to feature the bass tuba.
Tembo is an African word for elephant and this piece was inspired by the famous bass solo ‘The Elephant’ from Saint-Saëns’ ‘Carnival of the Animals’
This arrangement allows the bass to shine over the whole range of the instrument in a playful way as indicated by the term Scherzo.

Bass tuba soloist 1st Trumpet 2nd Trumpet Horn in F Trombone
Substitute parts are included for Eb Bass, (treble clef) Bb Trombone, (treble clef) and Eb Horn.
(The arrangement is also available as a tuba solo with piano accompaniment and also in arrangements for Bassoon and Double Bass).
