John Duarte wrote four Danseries and No.2 was written at the request of the Canadian guitarist Liona Boyd. Its two movements reflect two Latin dance types - Tango and Tarantella. The Tango is a subdued, sensual image of the Argentinean dance, seen through a translucent fabric. There are typically humorous moments in the form of exaggerated glissandi. The dancing, virtuosic Tarantella features a wide dynamic range and contrasts descending arpeggios with fluid ascending scale patterns.
John Duarte a écrit quatre Danseries et la n°2 a été écrite à la demande de la guitariste canadienne Liona Boyd. Ses deux mouvements reflètent deux types de danses latines - le tango et la tarentelle. Le tango est une image sobre et sensuelle de la danse argentine, vue à travers un tissu translucide. Il y a généralement des moments humoristiques sous forme de glissandi exagérés. La Tarentelle dansante et virtuose présente une large gamme dynamique et contraste des arpèges descendants avec des motifs d'échelle ascendants fluides.
